Holyrood Revisited

I've been busy. Actually, I've mostly been busy taking photos. Sadly, taking photos has taken priority over sharing them which means I have quite a backlog!
But - photos are meant to be viewed and, at least in this blog, obsessed over. I will be sharing more - but the first photos I've spotted are from long ago so let's look at those first.
I think these photos hint that I can learn from revisiting a location, and perhaps even start to tell stories - despite still desperately trying to trigger social anxiety by talking to people.
Going chronologically...
My intention here was to contrast the beautiful view, with the gentleman looking down (reading his paper in this case). The mundane against the dramatic. I think it works, but doesn't quite tell the story I was after. The flat composition is very picturesque but hides the details of the figure.
On previous visits to Holyrood, I'd learned to love huge sweeping cityscapes as a background. So much so that I took many and ditched most in the edit. But these two - I think are strong enough.
The silhouetted runner on the crest of a hill.
Surveying the view. Somehow the pose still tells a clear story.
Here our two tourists look almost heroic about to join the trek to the summit of Arthur's Seat. Though for me, the route up definitely raises some mixed feelings around mass tourism.
I feel a little less good about this depiction. Somehow similar to the first picture of the elderly gentleman by the lake. Here the amazing view is juxtaposed with our two fellas finding their phones more interesting. Not exactly fair of me to tell this story, they made their way up the hill and earned their break.
The home-stretch now. This cyclist rounds a bend. Stylised very differently to the others, in glistening sun and less-saturated colour.
To me, this photo tells a story of reflecting on a job well done - and taking the smart less-travelled path. Enough is enough.
